CHECK OUT THE PEACE CLASS!
The Peace Class gives participants the opportunity to focus and reflect on their own humanity and their inner resources such as choice, inner strength, and self-awareness. Rather than describing or defining personal peace, the program empowers individuals to reach their own understanding. Everyone can benefit.
The program focusses on ten themes over a 10-session series of classes. Each of these sessions lasts from 45 minutes to one hour.
Any existing group or organisation can apply to facilitate a Peace Class. They have run in over 70 countries, translated into 30+ languages. The role of the facilitator requires no professional qualifications. A few volunteers on Salt Spring heard about it and got together to offer one here. Attendance is open.
The Peace Class has been running on Salt Spring Island since 2016. But people on the other Gulf Islands, including some teachers, some students, and others, asked about expanding our reach. So....
We did a Peace Class for the Gulf Islands! It has now concluded but we've been asked to offer it again. It was online, using Zoom. Participants joined us from many of the Gulf Islands and well beyond using their phones, tablets and computers. Feel free to enquire about the next session on our Contact page.
Each class consists of videos and written material, and explores a particular theme like Inner-strength, Choice, Self-awareness, Clarity, and the possibility of Personal Peace. The content is completely non-religious and non-sectarian and is suitable for teens to seniors. Much of the material is excerpted from worldwide presentations or interviews featuring Mr Prem Rawat who is an author and a speaker who has been internationally recognised as an Ambassador of Peace. The message is delivered with lots of humour, wisdom and practical insight that, in 2018 alone, was heard by over 16% of the world's population.
Each Class also provides short periods for self-reflection and sharing, but there is no expectation or pressure to join group discussion. In fact, there is no expectation to have on-going contact or involvement of any kind. This is about your own personal exploration.
The peace class material will be of interest to anyone wanting to know themselves better. We have been told by many participants that the best way to get an idea about this class is to check out the page called What People Say . These personal expressions from previous participants help to convey a sense of the Class. Sample videos that are used in the class to open discussion, note-taking or private reflection are here.
There is no cost, now or later, as previous graduates decided to "pay it forward" with donations to allow anyone to register for free.
